Next week I will send the First Communion Folder including the Prayers and questions for the Sacrament of Reconciliation that your child needs to memorize to make his/her First Communion. Later on I will add the questions for the Sacrament of the Eucharist. This year is a special one because your child is preparing to receive two sacraments. I am helping in that preparation, however, the family is the primary community in which faith is shared and nurtured. As a class, we attend Mass in the Chapel every Wednesday. In the Church every first Friday as well as feast days. We participate in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament monthly and other several opportunities to grow as Catholics. Is your responsibility to take your child every Sunday to Mass and pray every day at home. It will be easy for them to memorize the prayers if you pray them every day with them. Thank you for your support.

Blessed be God Week: August 30 - September 10 , 2021
August 30, September 10 Dear Parents, Welcome to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School's 2021-2022 School year! Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students: I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and introduce myself. My name is Claudia Cortez and I am so excited to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher. During the year, I will be teaching your children all the subjects (math, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, religion, social studies, and science). This is my eight year teaching at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School. Before my time at OLHRS, I had the experience of teaching pre-school, TK, kindergarten and 1st grade. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Sacramento State University and my master’s degree in Spanish and English from Northridge University. I am also a certified catechist with the Archdiocese of San Diego, CA. My goal for the school year is to help each student grow academically and socially in a warm, creative, and safe environment. Third grade is a year to develop and learn many new skills. A very important and special part of this year is that the students will be prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. I am most honored to be able to prepare your children for these two very special and precious moments that I get to share with them, which they will remember and hold close in their hearts forever. By receiving these two sacraments, it is my hope that every child in my class will learn to respect others and feel respected by others, which will help create a positive learning experience in our classroom! Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. You may email me at [email protected] Also, please check the school’s website often for important updates. I update my page as much as possible with reminders, news, and other information that might be helpful. I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your children! I look forward to watching them learn, grow, and have a fantastic time in 3rd grade!
